JUNIOR
GENERAL
WITH THE PATRONAGE OF
The national literary competition “Città di Bologna” is back, conceived and managed for 10 years by Vittoria Borghetti in memory of her husband Guido Zucchi. The competition, which in recent years has seen more than 1000 works each year, is once again open to poets of all ages, divided by category: General (from 18 years), Junior (from 12 to 18 years), and Baby (up to 11 years), with prizes for each. Registration is free and all interested parties, both Italian and foreign, have until the end of October to send a poem in a theme of their choosing.
COMPETITION PROCEDURE
PHASE ONE
POETRY SUBMISSION DEADLINE: All pieces must be sent no later than 31 October 2023
SINGLE POETRY SECTION: a poem, in word or pdf format, using the form at the bottom of the page.
THEME: Free choice
TEXTS: The texts must be in Italian or a dialect of any Italian region (with an attached Italian translation), published or unpublished. Texts that have already been awarded one of the top 3 places in another competition may not be submitted. Texts with offensive and/or blasphemous content or otherwise deemed inappropriate will be automatically excluded from the Competition.
NUMBER OF COPIES: Participants must send only one copy of their pieces via the form at the bottom of the page, completing it in its entirety, or via regular mail to our infopoint address (Corte De’ Galluzzi 13a 40124 Bologna)
SUBSCRIPTION FEE: Participation is free
PHASE TWO
Starting 1 November, the jury will examine the pieces and select the poems that will be eligible for public voting and will choose the finalists
PHASE THREE
On 20 November 2023, the poems admitted to the second round will be published online, where anyone will be able to vote for their favorite poems for the “people’s choice” prize until 26 November 2023. Among these, the three winners of the On-Line Category will be chosen
AWARDS
The jury will select the 3 prize winners for each category as well as a dialect poem. The winners of each category will be announced online on 1 December and awarded in person. The date of the award ceremony will be announced later.
