The precious moments of our lives are captured through photographs, ensuring that they don’t vanish into the fog of memory.
That precise moment is where Anna Caterina Masotti’s photographic investigation starts. It is a moment within itself, without past or future. It is the “here and now”, flourishing in the magic of existence. Medical procedures and forced changes to her vision have led Anna Caterina Masotti to recognize the value of looking sideways, but above all to consciously reclaim her time. Photography is capable of restoring the ephemeral, making it eternal: a conceptual procedure that captures the moment, renewing the source of memory.
With a language of contrasting blacks and whites, Anna Caterina Masotti enchants the viewer with shots of nature, both macro and landscape. Covering the earth with both intense and mellow skies, while silhouettes play in the backgrounds. Light is the star of the show. Day or night, it filters in to create patterns, reflecting in the water and shaping delicate floral ornaments on the walls. Anna Caterina Masotti’s photographs generate an osmosis between beings and nature in a dialogue that is reflected in the environment and, vice versa, where the energy of the landscape pervades the entire shot.
